According to tradition, she devoted herself to her faith from a young age and vowed to remain unmarried. When her family arranged a marriage against her wishes, she refused to abandon her beliefs and became a target of persecution.

Legends surrounding Saint Lucy tell of her extraordinary beauty, particularly her eyes, and describe how she endured suffering rather than renounce her Christian faith. Her story eventually established her as a symbol of devotion, courage and spiritual light. She is traditionally invoked for protection against eye diseases and is revered as a patron saint of the blind. She is also associated with glassmakers, glass cutters and seamstresses.

Medal maker David Kružliak brings this powerful story to life on the reverse of the coin. Saint Lucy is depicted holding a palm branch, a traditional symbol of martyrdom, alongside a tray bearing her eyes—an iconic element of her religious imagery. The Czech-English inscription “SV. LUCIE – ST. LUCY” completes the design.

The obverse features Queen Elizabeth II, the year of issue, 2022, and the denomination of 5 Dollars (NZD), reflecting Niue’s issuing authority.

Containing half a gram of gold and presented in special Slovak-English packaging, this miniature coin offers a thoughtful gift for someone named Lucy or Lucia, a meaningful religious keepsake or a distinctive addition to a collection celebrating saints and their enduring stories.

Add this remarkable Saint Lucy Gold Mini Coin to your collection today!

Expected delivery: within 24 hours - UAE.
