The Royal Bengal Tiger
The Royal Bengal tiger is one of the largest land-based predators in the world. From the mangroves of Sundarbans to Ranthambore, the Bengal tiger can be found across 18 states in India. A fully-grown male can weigh up to 420 pounds and spends most of his time relaxing during the day, preparing to hunt at night.
These majestic animals are classified as endangered and by 2010, the world lost 95% of the Bengal tiger population through habitat loss and poaching. Recognizing the importance of conservation, 13 countries teamed up to set a global goal in an effort to double the population.
