2020 Saint Joseph – Patron of Woodworkers and Families

Saint Joseph holds a special place in Christian tradition as the husband of Mary, foster father of Jesus Christ and head of the Holy Family. Described as a carpenter, he became the patron saint of woodworkers and numerous related professions, including cabinetmakers, woodcarvers and wheelwrights.

Beyond his connection to craftsmanship, Saint Joseph is revered as a protector of families, the Church, the persecuted and the dying. His character represents humility, righteousness, wisdom and quiet strength—a man whose actions spoke louder than words.
